It’s Tuesday so it must be time for The Broke and Bookish’s Top Ten.  This week the theme is Top 10 Best Books I’ve Read So Far This Year.

I’ve only read 38 so far and this is my list from that 38. (in no particular order)

I got this from NetGalley and really didn’t know what to expect, but I loved it and am waiting on the sequel.

18143789 (1) 2.  The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley

I read the Orchard House by Riley, so was waiting for this one to come out.  Didn’t disappoint me. Loved it.  Probably my favorite so far this year.

Great ideas!  Want to go back and read it again it was that good!

8442457 (1) 4.  Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Beggars or Angels

5.  Beggars or Angels: How a Single Mother Triumphed Over War, Welfare and Cancer to Become a Successful Philanthropist by Rosemary Tran Lauer with Scott Beller

This was very surprising. So much inspiration in one book and very well written.

Every parent, young or old, should have a copy of this.

Historical fiction, chick lit, and I got a whole book list from this book.

The world needs more Christian fantasy like this.  Great story. Lovely descriptions.

The Stand by Stephen King

Technically I’m not finished with it yet, but I know it will be one of my top ten.  This is the updated version.

Description from

Let’s be real for a sec. Most of us don’t have time for an hour of yoga or 30 minutes of meditation every day. We’re overwhelmed as it is. Our spiritual practice shouldn’t add to that.
That’s why I’ve handpicked 108 simple techniques to combat our most common problems—stress, burnout, frustration, jealousy, resentment. The stuff we have to deal with on a daily basis. This book is designed so that you can achieve peace and experience miracles now.
Inspired by some of the greatest spiritual teachings, these practical, moment-to-moment tools will help you eliminate blocks and live with more ease. They’re powerful, life-changing meditations and principles, modernized and broken down into easy-to-digest techniques to fit your lifestyle.
Throughout the book, I share principles from both A Course in Miracles and Kundalini yoga and meditation. These tools can help you find your connection to your inner strength. When you practice these techniques, fear will melt away, inspiration will spring up, and a sense of peace will set in

My Thoughts

This is an essential book for those who want to experience a better life. Miracles Now is divided into 108 timely manageable messages. These sections are based on Gabrielle’s insights from Kundalini yoga and A Course of Miracles. While it depends alot on eastern beliefs, Bernstein also shows how it’s related to Christian principles involving God and the Holy Spirit. She has a teacher’s heart.

I like this thought she has on prayer: “Pray whenever you’re indecisive, overly obsessing, or caught in a fear spiral. Try not to pray for a specific outcome-instead, pray for peace. Accessing a peaceful state of mind is all we really need.”

Some of my other favorite messages include:
-Worry is a prayer for Chaos
-Be more childlike
-Meditate to heal addiction
-You don’t need to find your purpose, Your purpose will find you
-Breathe like a dog and boost you immune system.

This book is a life guide for a lifetime. It also includes photographs and links to online meditation videos.

It is full of energy and I highly recommend it. I learned so much from it.
I have been given a copy of this book from Hay House through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
