The Girl from Summer Hill: A Summer Hill Novel

Description from Goodreads:

The first book of a new contemporary romance series set in the mountains of Virginia in a town with full of family legends, romance, and secrets from New York Times bestselling author of the Nantucket Brides trilogy.

Sparks fly as fiery Casey Reddick and brooding Hollywood actor Tate Landers clash in the Virginia summer heat. A chef who puts her career first and her love life second, Casey doesn’t see what every girl in town is swooning over. She made up her mind the moment she met Tate—he’s gorgeous, but stuck-up, nothing like his ex-brother-in-law, Devlin who’s playing the Wickham to Tate’s Darcy in local production of Pride & Prejudice. Casey makes the perfect Elizabeth Bennett—how could she be star-struck when she’s heard Devlin’s damning stories about Tate? As they rehearse together, however, Casey finds herself attracted to Tate—he’s much more down-to-earth than she expected and any physical contact between the two of them literally gives her a tingling, electric shock. As opening night draws near, Casey has some difficult decisions to make. Whom should she believe? The seemingly sincere, slighted Devlin or Tate, whose rough, arrogant exterior may only be skin deep. She’s come to love that jolt she gets when they touch—but will she get burned?

My thoughts:

Whenever anyone asks me for a book recommendation, without any hesitation I guickly reply,
“Anything by Jude Deveraux.”If you’re a fan of Jane Austen you’ll love The Girl from Summerhill.
I’m not particularly a fan of Jane Austen, but I still really enjoyed this fun-loving romantic
treat. I enjoyed the compelling characters, the delightful dialogue and the sweet storyline. As in
her other novels Deveraux teases us with her constant culinary references.

Ever After Trailer

From Goodreads:

Jude Deveraux, the New York Times bestselling contemporary romance author known for her incredible storytelling, spirited heroines, and sexy heroes, returns with her most enchanting novel yet: a love story set on Nantucket, featuring the Montgomerys and the Taggarts and filled with secrets and surprises.

My thoughts:

This is a very busy book.

I love reading about the Montgomerys and the Taggerts. Maybe someday I’ll get ambitious and
make a genealogy chart.

I enjoyed most of Ever After. I didn’t care for the token sex scenes though. I think the book
would have been much better without them.

I always enjoy seeing how Deveraux has her characters grow. This was no exception. There are
lots of characters with potential for other stories.

This is my favorite in the Nantucket Brides Trilogy and a quick read.

It was interesting how Deveraux included a story line concerning PTSD and I loved the sweet
atmosphere of the sister ghosts.

Aqua – Alaskan Nights – Book Review

Aqua alaska

Rating: ♥♥♥½

NetGalley Description:

After losing her job, Hayley struggles to make ends meet and allows her career status to define her. She finds inspiration in successful photographer Trevor Tott, but their professional aspirations clash when she experiences his questionable ethics along with unwanted advances from her overbearing boss. With the help of the ship’s crew, stunning Alaskan backdrops and a leap of faith, they might find business can be mixed with pleasure.

My Thoughts:

I read this book because reading about Alaska is one of my favorite pastimes.

I loved the way the author described the wildlife and scenery in Alaska. Her descriptions were like the palate of an artist. I could easily picture myself there enjoying the sights and sounds. Jones must have done an incredible amount of research to come up with all the natural resources she did.

Unfortunatly I wasn’t as excited about the romantic elements of the story as I was with the rest of the book. I thought Trevor was a weak character and at the beginning I was confused whether he was suppose to be with Amber or Hayley.
However, a pleasant added bonus was the character of Amber. Amber was the ship’s chef and she makes up dishes using fruits and vegetable indigenous to Alaska. Her menu’s were out of this world and mouth-watering. I would recommend this book to readers who like Alaska. The romance was boring.

This book is part of the Aqua series and will be published around June 30, 2014

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Blue Moon Publishers through NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
